Decoy Magazine Article

The great news this year is that Rich is one of the carvers featured in the January/February 2007 issue of Decoy Magazine.  Rich's photo and interview are included in a story about the carvers and demonstrators at the Tuckerton Seaport Museum.

Artist in Residence, Tuckerton Seaport Museum

Rich will be doing a residency at the Tuckerton Seaport Museum on three days this spring; the dates will be March 29, April 5, and April 12, 2008.  The artists in residence at the Seaport are sponsored by a National Endowment for the Arts grant, and Rich is excited and honored to be one of the participants this year.  Shown is a photo of Rich with his decoys displayed at the Seaport when he was the featured artist during the summer of 2006.

Decoy Contests 2007

Rich did very well at the fish decoy contests again in 2007.  First he entered the new International Fish Decoy Championship in Minnesota and all 3 of his entries won awards.  Rich won 3rd Best of Show in the Folk Art Division in Minnesota.

Then it was on to the Great Lakes World Championship in Michigan, where all 10 of his entries won awards which included 3 first place awards, 5 second place awards, and 2 third place awards.

Finally it was off to New Jersey for the 25th Annual Tuckerton Decoy Show.  Rich won several awards, including 2 first place awards and for the 8th time won Best of Show at Tuckerton with his great Bluefish eating Striper decoy.

Nouveau Article

Rich was the subject of a very nice article on local handcrafts in the October, 2004 issue of Nouveau Magazine.  Nouveau is a local magazine covering the arts, antiques, and lifestyle in Bucks County, PA.

Deck & Garden Fish

This large (16.5" long) white cedar American Shad was carved for outdoor use on a deck or in a garden.  It can be mounted on either a sturdy dowel for deck mounting or on a copper pole for garden display.  The fish has a burned and stained finish, hand made copper eyes, and hand hammered copper fins that are pinned into the body.  Outdoor fish are available in many different species and sizes; contact us for more info.  We currently have a shad as shown above available; email rich@darkwaterdecoys.com for information.
